My God

Scripture Reading of 2 Samuel 22:1-20

In order to understand this song, I think it is important to understand at least a piece of my situation. The future, from my vantage point, is uncertain. I have no idea what is coming next. I do not even know where I will be living in the next 2 months, or where I will be working, or how I will provide for my wife. But in the midst of this I thought about how God has continued to show his faithfulness to his people from generation to generation. God was faithful then and he will be faithful now. He delivered and provided for his people then and he will continue to do the same now. And the part that still touches me in an intimate way is the fact that God hears the cries of his people.

When facing a difficult situation, remembering that God is who he says he is, that he hears us, that he is faithful to provide, and that he is walking with us through everything we go through – to make us more like him – is the best heart medicine.

I pray that God uses this song to bless you and speak to you in your time of need like it has done for me.

The lyrics are below:

In the face of uncertainty
When ocean waves surround me
You hear my cry

When hopeless doubt consumes me
Flood waters assail me
You hear my cry

You are faithful, you are faithful
You are faithful, you are faithful

You shake the earth, shake the earth
With your power
When you hear your children cry out

You are my God
You are my Rock
You are my Lord
You are my Savior

Through every trial
Through every fear
Through everything
God you are near
